Neil Clarke is the editor and publisher of Clarkesworld Magazine (Hugo Award winner for Best Semiprozine in 2010, 2011, and 2013, and finalist in 2009; World Fantasy Special Award—Nonprofessional winner in 2014, and finalist in 2009, 2010, and 2012) and Forever Magazine. Neil is a seven-time finalist for the Hugo Award in the Best Editor Short Form category (in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019), winner of the Chesley Award for Best Art Director (in 2016, 2018, and 2019; finalist in 2017), and recipient of the Solstice Award from SFWA (2019). Neil is also the owner of Wyrm Publishing and science fiction translation imprint Clarkesworld Books.
At Readercon 23, Neil experienced a near-fatal heart attack, which was followed by the installation of a defibrillator and a new life as a cyborg. His first original anthology, Upgraded (Wyrm Publishing, 2014), was inspired by these events.
