Vivian Shaw is the author of three novels in the Dr. Greta Helsing urban fantasy series: Strange Practice (2017), Dreadful Company (2018), and Grave Importance (forthcoming autumn 2019), all from Orbit Books. Her short fiction has appeared in Uncanny Magazine ("The Utmost Bound," issue 20, Jan-Feb 2018) and is forthcoming in Pseudopod ("Black Matter," summer 2019).
Vivian was featured in the Museum of Science Fiction's December 2018 Ask the Next Question reading, a tribute to Theodore Sturgeon. She wears way too many earrings and likes edged weapons and expensive ink; is into air crash investigation and practical necromancy, which work together surprisingly well; and is in the process of recapping the entirety of the penny-dreadful Varney the Vampire, or The Feast of Blood on her website (www.vivianshaw.net). In her spare time she draws, sews, makes jewelry, collects terrible vintage cookbooks and non-terrible fountain pens, and writes fan fiction (pen name: Coldhope). She can be found on Twitter at @ceruleancynic, and lives in Baltimore with her wife, the author Arkady Martine.
